Vocational Education and Training Program (Sare Designs - VET)
Our Sare Designs Vocational Education and Training Program is designed to empower out of school rural girls to improve their livelihoods. Over the course of one year, these young women undergo comprehensive training in tailoring, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, craft making, circular economy practices and climate smart agriculture. This program not only equips the participants with valuable skills but also connects them to crucial resources such as credit and microgrants to kickstart their own businesses. There is an additional one year of follow up and mentorship to ensure the girls ' continued success.
The ultimate goal of this program is to empower disadvantaged rural girls to acquire valuable skills to either start their own businesses or secure gainful employment thereby improving their livelihoods.
We aim to train 30 to 40 students annually, empowering them to reach their full potential and positively impact the community. As they graduate with improved skills in sewing and knitting, they will be better equipped to pursue careers in the industry, start their own businesses, and contribute to the local economy.
School Uniform Production and Distribution
To ensure the lasting sustainability of the program, we have established a Sare Designs Shop where we involve local tailors and some of the participants in making high quality school uniforms. These uniforms are then sold to the community at subsidized rates through our school uniform distribution program, generating income to uphold the impact of our program. The funds raised are reinvested into the initiative, providing support such as microloans, grants, and sewing machines to empower graduate students in launching their own businesses.
