Background
Riley Orton Foundation Org empowers marginalized adolescent girls living in rural areas and informal settlements in Kenya through educational scholarships and life skills training to enable them acquire the agency to realize their full potential. ROF’s work in the education sector has included construction, equipping and running of Akili Preparatory School For Girls, training on Information Communication Technology (ICT), literacy promotion as well as provision of school uniforms and bicycles to increase access to education for underprivileged girls and boys. In addition, there has been a focus on life skills training for youth through sports for development and counselling in an effort to reinforce their knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and rights and build their capacity to become more active and productive agents in their communities. During COVID-19 pandemic, teen pregnancy has doubled, and girls are getting married off at unprecedented rates due to the spiraling poverty . Girls also suffer from domestic violence experienced at their homes. This might negate the gains made in creating access to free education and gender equality. Funds raised will be used to provide food, books, personal hygiene materials including free sanitary pads, school uniforms, life skills & reproductive health and rights education to 1000 rural girls. The project will also offer 45 scholarships to high school girls and carry out girl-led advocacy campaigns, mentorship and sexual and reproductive health and rights education to adolescent girls as well as capacity building programs for teachers to enhance quality of instruction in the classrooms. Together, with your help we're going to do some amazing work to mobilize the resources needed to keep the doors of learning open to the needy girls in our community. Our goal is to raise USD $350,000 to support the program in 2022/2023. Together we can make it happen! |

Roles and Responsibilities
What you will gain by volunteering with us
- Undertake independent research in finding alternative resources for both short term and long term sustainability of the organization
- Assist the Executive Director in writing concept notes, project ideas and project proposals and ensure their timely submission
- Undertake online research and build contacts with potential individual donors and foundations to raise funds for the activities of the organization
- Improve and develop communications material for the organization such as brochure, website, annual report, posters etc
- Organize or provide assistance in organizing any online/crowdfunding campaigns for the organization
- Suggest other innovative ideas for effective resource mobilization
- Be a self starter
- Strong organization, communication and document coordination skills
- Experience in research and report writing
- Experience in working with target and deadlines
- Education in community development, International Development/Africa Studies, Business related subjects, Economics, or sales and marketing.
- Ability to build strong relationships with new people and organizations
- Detail oriented with excellent time management skills
