The goal is for the students to learn and share healthy environmental practices that they will use throughout their lifetimes, contributing to a more environmentally friendly Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Involve the children in everyday activities such as watering gardens, feeding and counting chickens and eggs, collecting rubbish and feeding compost. Labor intensive activities like building gardens will be undertaken on Saturdays.
- Research and prepare theory and practical lessons on environmental stewardship and regenerative agriculture eg permaculture. The practical activities will give the girls life skills they can also implement at home. Theory components will educate students about national and global environmental issues and concepts, as well as help them to understand how their positive environmental actions contribute to a healthier world for everyone.
- Organize students into groups and allocate them particular activities each week. Each group should have a student leader who is charged with making sure the group completes their daily activities eg Watering and weeding trees and gardens- each student may have a section of trees to take care of, waste management (collecting rubbish in compound, sorting rubbish- recycle, plastics, metals, compost, burn pile), Building gardens (Banana Circle, Keyhole Garden, Vertical/Kitchen Gardens)
